Update SONY Xperia ION LT 28i /LT 28h with Official Jellybean 4.1.2 Firmware

Now Xperia ION users can update their SONY Xperia ION LT 28i /LT 28h smartphone manually with the latest version of Jellybean 4.1.2 Firmware version which is dubbed as 6.2.B.0.211. With this update overheating and bugs related to camera can be fixed. This update is available only for selected countries yet it can be applied to any SONY Xperia ION device manually.

This tutorial is compatible only with the Sony Xperia Ion model number LT 28i and LT 28h. Don’t flash the JB 4.1.2 6.2.B.0.211 update if you have a similar handset because you can easily brick your phone.

Before you start to update the firmware make sure you have all the backup of your data so that you can restore your data when you might have lost the data or corrupted while the process of upgrading.

Things you need to back up: SMS, Contacts, Call log, Images, songs, videos, files which are present in your internal memory, APN and MMS settings (follow this path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”)

From the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging” enable the USB Debugging Mode. It is always advisable that you have 50% of Battery life left so that you won’t face the risk of device getting turned off in the middle of update.

Steps to Update SONY Xperia ION LT 28i /LT 28h with Jellybean 4.1.2 6.2.B.0.211 Firmware:

Step 1: Download Jellybean 4.1.2 6.2.B.0.211 Firmware Package or (LT28h_6.2.B.0.211_FTF.ftf  file) for Xperia ION and Flash tool to your computer.

Flash Tool

The very first step is to make sure that your PC has all of the necessary drivers installed for your Sony Xperia. The best way to do this is to install PC Companion or Sony Update Service (SUS).

Make sure you connect your Xperia to the PC before starting the process to download the necessary USB and ADB drivers. If you have any problems you will find the necessary drivers once you have installed Flashtool in the following location: ‘C:\Flashtool\drivers’.

Step 2: Once the device is installed, you need to switch off your smart phone. Next place the downloaded .ftf file in a folder named “XPERIA ION Firmware” on your desktop.

Step 3: Go to the C:\Flashtool path or path where you have installed the flash tool.

Step 4: Run the Flash tool by running the “thunder” symbol situated at the top left portion of the Flash tool.

Step 5: From the tool that will be opened, select “Flashmode” followed by “ok”.

Step 6: Now you need to click on “…” in the firmware section window and pick the .ftf file – the firmware file from the “XPERIA ION Firmware” folder place on your desktop in step 2.

Step 7: Assuming the phone is in off condition else turn it off and then Press the Volume Up Rocker Key and while doing the same plug the USB cable in and connect the smartphone with the computer(always use original cable provided at the time of purchase). you can observe a Blue LED glow in your Xperia ION indicating that Flash mode is enabled.

Step 8: Once the connection establish, the installation procedure will start automatically. This firware updare process usually takes 5 to 10 minutes and in the end your phone will reboot automatically into Jelly Bean 4.1.2 OS.

Note: If the first boot takes longer than usual, don’t panic, that’s normal.

Step 9: Congratulations you have successfully installed the jellybean 4.1.2 update for your Sony SONY Xperia ION to check whether the update is successful or not Go to “Settings -> About Phone -> Build Number” for checking the build version of the Android OS.

Note: If your phone gets into the bot loop sequence just remove the battery and re insert and repeat the above instructions once again.

    How are you. I’d followed the instructions you gave, but when I try to run Flash tool I got a screen with only chinese/japane text, is there an english version ?

        I tried your download link, but I’am getting this , see attachment in gmail, the ION does not have a back button, and now my Xperia ION does not want to startup (power on), please advise me what to do.

          I did not get any attachments in gmail, could you send it over again. And regarding your Xperia ION Phone I will send you some links to your mail check them they could be of use to you to get your bricked phone to normal. Some times you need to let the battery die completely to power on normally.

    Hi since upgrading my ION to ICS I have not been able to use tethering. Ive tried everything to get it to work, including “fix my phone” feature in PC companion. Now my phone is rooted and i wanted to know if the Jelly Bean update would help fix the tethering as Sony suggests
