Basic Prerequisites before rooting:

As rooting process involves loss of data it is advised to backup all your valuable data which might well cost you a lot on their loss. In case you loose your data or get your data corrupted you can always have your backup to restore it back. It is also good if you don’t use KIES software or any other ROM mangers to backup your data.

Things you need to back up: SMS, Contacts, Call log, Images, songs, videos, files which are present in your internal memory, APN and MMS settings (follow this path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”) From the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”, enable the USB Debugging, ensure that the USB debugging option is ticked (Check marked). Also be sure that your battery is not below 45% if not you could get your device turned off in the middle of the firmware update.

Step 1: Download Jellybean 4.1.1 Updated Firmware Package and Odin to your computer. After downloading extract the files in your computer.

Step 2: Now Open Odin in your computer and Switch off your phone so that it can be entered in download mode.

Step 3: To enable download mode in Galaxy Beam GT-I8530, first we need to switch off the device and then need to hold Volume Down Rocker key + Menu Button at a time and then need to Power On the device. Once you see Download Mode Green robot you can release the buttons.

Step 4: Now connect the device to the computer with the help of original USB cable provided with your device and then after connecting see that the ID: COM section will turn blue indicating that all the drivers are installed successfully. Next click on the below mentioned options and select the files from the firmware package which was extracted.

CODE – CODE_I8530XXAMF1_1053499_REV00_user_low_ship.tar to CODE CSC – CSC_OXA_I8530OXAAMF1_1053499_REV00_user_low_ship.tar to CSC PIT – GT-I8530_EUR_XX_8G to PIT

Step 5: After you have selected all the files, you have to click on Start for the firmware process to start. You have to wait for 5 to 7 minutes for starting the firmware update. Once the firmware is updated you can see that the device  will be reeboted. Disconnect the device from the computer.

Note: If your phone hangs at the welcome screen or gets into the bot loop sequence just remove the battery and re insert and repeat the above instructions once again.

Congratulations now that you have finished updating, enjoy the Jellybean 4.1.2 experience on your Galaxy Beam GT-I8530 without voiding its warranty.

santosh1802 vijesh Hi Vijesh – I tried to update from 2.3.6 to this 4.1.2. The process runs fine but when i check it after the update it still shows 2.3.6? Advise?

  6. santosh1802 says

abdu84 If the update still shows 2.3.6 then for sure the changes didn’t take place. I had that problem before. The latest ODIN interface is a little different from what Vijesh used, I remember using PDA tab to load one of the firmware files mentioned by vijesh. Sorry, I don’t have access to the computer that I used to upgrade my firmware , so don’t remember everything I did

Hey everybody, has anyone had problems with the phone function after this update? When making or receiving a phone call the screen turns off and I cannot access the phone until the other party hangs up. This is obviously not optimal in case you want to mute your phone or need to punch in digits on the call …. apart from that the update works fine, only flaw is that it renders the phone function useless temporarily. Any one has a link to the original GB install?
