Update Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 with Official Jellybean 4.3 JWR66V Firmware Manually

Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 can now be updated to latest official Jellybean 4.3 Android OS which is dubbed as JWR66V. Recently Samsung had clarified that it is working om this Jelly bean 4.3 Update and will be releasing it soon. So here is it already available all you need to do is just follow the instructions and prerequisites carefully.

Note: Applying this firmware update won’t void the warranty in any manner as it’s an official firmware released by Samsung and is not a custom ROM firmware. Also, applying this update manually won’t root the device.

Quick Pre Requisites:

1) Install USB Drivers for Samsung Galaxy S4 to transfer files between the Android device to the computer.

2) Enable USB Debugging Mode on the phone to connect it with the computer and use Android SDK with it. [Guide to Enable USB Debugging mode on various Android Versions]

3) As the tutorial might wipe out all data of the phone, create a backup. If the device is having any custom recoveries such as ClockworkMod/TWRP already installed then backup data using the recovery.

Things you need to back up: SMS (How to Backup SMS and Restore it on any Android Device), Contacts, Call log, Images, songs, videos, files which are present in your internal memory, APN and MMS settings (follow this path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”)

4) The Galaxy S4 GT-I9505G should have above 80 percent of battery charge.

5) Android 4.3 firmware update is compatible with Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505G model only. Attempting to install the firmware on any other variant may brick or permanently damage the device. Verify your device model number by navigating to Settings > About Phone.

Steps to Update Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 with Leaked Custom Jellybean 4.3 JWR66V Firmware:

Step 1: Download Odin v3.07 and Jellybean 4.3 Android OS Package from below links which is suitable for your Samsung Galaxy S4.


Download Android 4.3 Jelly Bean leaked ROM with Odexed port zip or Deodexed port zip to the computer desktop.

Step 2: After downloading, extract both the files in your computer and open odin in your computer.

Step 3: Enable download mode in your Samsung Galaxy S4 GT I9505 by pressing the Volume Down Button along with the Home Button to Power ON.

Step 4: Once download mode is enabled, you need to connect your device to the computer with the help of original USB cable which you got in the sales package at the time of purchase. As soon as you connect you will see that the ID:COM Section will turn Yellow/Green/Blue, indicating that all the drivers are installed successfully.

Step 5: In Odin, click on “PDA” to select the firmware file (.tar file) which looks like  Android 4.3 I9505GUEUBMFP zip. Once selected, click on “Start” for starting the update process of firmware. It will take around 5 – 10 minutes for applying the update. Once the device is updated with the firmware, the phone will be rebooted.

The phone will show up the language selection / Country Selector option once the device is booted successfully. To check on whether the device is updated or not, you can do so from the path “Settings > About Phone” where you will get to see the firmware version of the device.

Note: If the phone is stuck at boot animation or Samsung logo after Step 5, then go to recovery mode (press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons together) and perform Wipe data/Factory Reset as well as Wipe Cache Partition before choosing reboot system now option. NOTE: Use Volume keys to navigate between options and Power key to select an option in recovery. Performing data wipe task will only erase your phone’s internal memory and not the data on SD card. else just remove the battery, reinsert and follow the above process again.
